Why Berardi Talks Between Lazio & Sassuolo Have Stalled

Lazio seemed to be on the verge of signing Sassuolo talisman Domenico Berardi, but negotiations have slowed to a crawl in recent days.

The 28-year-old winger quickly emerged as one of the Biancocelesti’s priorities for the transfer window and talks with the Neroverdi seemed to be progressing well, with a deal almost being reached on the basis of around €20 million plus add-ons.

Berardi is keen on the idea of joining Lazio and has already reportedly agreed personal terms with the club, ready to make the jump to the Italian capital. Despite this, things have fallen awfully quiet in recent weeks.

La Lazio Siamo Noi details how Sassuolo decided to raise the price tag on Berardi, wanting around €30 million, a significant increase compared to the previous figures being discussed.

Considering his salary and the agent commissions, the total cost of the deal would be around €50 million, a large amount that Lazio are not willing to pay.

The Biancocelesti are still confident that a deal can be reached and are hoping to lower the total costs by around €10 million in order to close out a deal.

  1. What’s the patron of Sassuolo called? You can keep him. Go for someone else, there’s plenty of fish in the sea.

  2. Isn’t Gnonto on the right wing? 10 years younger then this guy and he is also Italian. Leeds have to sell and I think Sarri would like training him and having such player at his disposal. Considering Felipe Anderson and Pedro are doing great the incoming player wont be the starter nor really a back up either, he would be competition and more depth to the Mister (way too many games plus God forbid an injury)

Sassuolo are pushing so if they don’t agree to our terms there are options.

  3. The main reason why Berardi’s transfer saga talk turned into such a difficult stuff was because Sassuolo didn’t want to sell him from the beginning, but decided that they wanted to see some offers. They also knew Lazio wanted to have Immobile’s back up with the same lethal weapon. La Lazio considered 20million a good deal, considering how Sarri wanted this guy so much. However, Sassuolo probably wanted to turn themselves into the 2nd Udinese, selling players in a high price when in fact, the price didn’t go pretty well comparing to the guy’s performance last season.

Orsolini might pribably a good snatch, but I hope Sassuolo don’t get too greedy and decide to leave it that way and accept 20m.
