Joao Santos, the agent of Arsenal midfielder Jorginho, confirmed that Lazio were not in talks for the Italian-Brazilian.
The 31-year-old was linked with a possible move to the Italian capital this summer, with Maurizio Sarri seemingly keen on being reunited with the midfielder. Jorginho left Chelsea for Arsenal in the January transfer window, signing an 18-month contract with the club.
Lazio are clearly looking to strengthen their midfield this summer and their main target now appears to be Galatasaray’s Lucas Torreira. An offer has already been prepared and talks are still ongoing.
Speaking to TVPlay (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Santos discussed Jorginho’s future and any possible talks with Lazio.
He is very happy at Arsenal, in our minds there’s only the Gunners. There are no negotiations with Lazio.
I don’t even know if they have enough money to pay Jorginho, but that’s not the main point.
Whilst Sarri does have fond memories of Jorginho from their time together at Napoli, it’s clear now that the club will have to focus on other targets instead, starting with Torreira.
Things could change in a years’ time, when the 31-year-old’s contract with Arsenal draws to a close.
