Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali claims he’s not discussed a possible deal for Domenico Berardi with Lazio.
The 28-year-old Italian winger was widely reported to be one of the Biancocelesti’s top targets for this summer transfer window and even allegedly agreed personal terms with the club, keen to make the jump to the Italian capital.
In recent weeks reports suggested that Lazio had decided to move away from Berardi due to his high price tag, with Sassuolo seemingly wanting at least €30 million for his signature.
Speaking to Sport Mediaset (via LazioNews24), Carnevali provided an update on Berardi and denied any interest from Lazio.
Scaring Lotito is not easy. He has never asked for the player, and we have never spoken to him. Berardi is a strong player who we want to keep.
Lazio are now focusing on other targets to bolster their attack and the latest player to be linked with a move to Rome is Bologna’s Riccardo Orsolini, who would be far cheaper than his Sassuolo counterpart.
Contracted to the Neroverdi until 2027, Berardi scored 12 goals and provided seven assists in 26 Serie A appearances this season.
