Torreira or Paredes – What are Lazio up to?

Lazio have been linked with moves for both Lucas Torreira and Leandro Paredes, but only one of the two is expected to arrive this summer.

The Biancocelesti want to strengthen Maurizio Sarri’s midfield in the coming months, preparing to lose talismanic figure Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

It’s clear that Lazio need to add some more depth to their squad this summer if they want to compete in both the Champions League and Serie A. Their lack of rotation options was a clear source of frustration for Sarri this season.

As detailed by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Sarri’s priority for the midfield is Torreira and talks between Lazio and Galatasaray are ongoing. The Turkish side want around €15-20 million for the Uruguayan but the Biancocelesti’s latest offer was around €12 million.

Galatasaray were planning to replace Torreira with Paredes, giving them confidence to stick firm on their valuation of the former Arsenal midfielder. Due to this, Lazio also decided to start keeping an eye on the Argentine.

Paredes would be willing to sign a four or five-year contract worth around €2.5 million net per season, making him an interesting option that Claudio Lotito is considering. One thing that causes concern is his attitude and professionalism.

The Biancocelesti’s interest in Paredes could be disruptive though and force Galatasaray to start lowering their demands for Torreira.
