Rayo Vallecano have reportedly contacted Lazio to start discussing a possible deal for goalkeeper Luis Maximiano.

The 24-year-old Portuguese shot stopper arrived in Rome last summer from Granada in a deal worth around €10 million, expected to be the new number one following the departures of Thomas Strakosha and Pepe Reina.

Luis Maximiano was shown a red card six minutes into his Lazio debut and his career in Rome never recovered, with Ivan Provedel immediately taking over and shining under Sarri, leaving the 24-year-old as a spare part.

As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, Rayo Vallecano are interested in signing Luis Maximiano this summer and have already contacted Lazio to start negotiating a deal.

The Portuguese goalkeeper is willing to make the move and talks between the two clubs are progressing well, with the Biancocelesti hoping to recover as much as possible from their investment last year.

Last season, Luis Maximiano saw just 456 minutes of action across six games for Lazio, failing to prove a convincing figure.
