Lazio are one of four teams taking part in the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana, which’ll feature a new format for the first time.
The Supercoppa was previously a two-team affair involving the Scudetto winner and the winner of the Coppa Italia. If the same team won both trophies, then the Coppa Italia runner-up would compete.
Lazio have done well in the Supercoppa Italiana in recent years, winning in 2017 and 2019 under Simone Inzaghi.
The new format of the competition now sees four teams take part – the winners and runners up of Serie A and the Coppa Italia. For the 2023-24 season, the four teams are Napoli, Lazio, Inter and Fiorentina.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), the dates for the upcoming Supercoppa Italiana have now been confirmed.
The semi-finals will be played on 4th and 5th January 2024, with the final taking place on the 8th. The four teams, who’ll miss two Serie A games, will play the entire competition in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
