Milinkovic-Savic Not Open to Signing New Lazio Contract

Lazio would be happy to offer Sergej Milinkovic-Savic a new contract, but the midfielder is still hoping for a move this summer.

The 28-year-old Serbian star only has a year left on his contract with the Biancocelesti and has tasked his agent Mateja Kezman to secure a move away in the coming months.

Milinkovic-Savic has attracted the attention of a number of top sides including Inter and Juventus, but none are willing to match Lazio’s €40 million price tag.

As reported by Matteo Petrucci of Sky Sports Italia (via LazioNews24), Lazio are willing to start contract negotiations with Milinkovic-Savic, keen to avoid the possibility of him leaving on a free transfer next yet, but the player has made it clear that he isn’t keen to sign a new deal.

Things could change as the summer transfer window develops, but for the time being the 28-year-old midfielder is holding firm, keen to push through a departure this summer.

Claudio Lotito discussed the situation to La Gazzetta dello Sport, explaining the club’s position.

I wouldn’t sell him, in fact I’m trying to renew his contract, but a contract is a meeting of the will of all parties.

Certainly, Lazio does not need to sell in order to buy. Too much importance is given to money, neglecting the person.

  1. Thank God with don’t need to sell but in the same time it is preferable not to lose out on a fee. Personally I like Sergej so much that I wish he stays and not improve a direct rival.

I am with Lotito on this one and also Sergej gave his word he will not leave Lazio on a free transfer so if his word is worth anything we are ok.
