Lazio captain Ciro Immobile has reportedly rejected a lucrative contract offer from Saudi Arabia despite rumours of an agreement.
Yesterday, rumours from local Saudi journalists suggested that the 33-year-old Italian striker had agreed to a two-year contract worth €15 million net per season plus a €5 million signing bonus.
The rumours gathered enough steam for Lazio president Claudio Lotito to talk to the media, where he claimed that no talks had been held with Saudi clubs and that he wouldn’t sell Immobile.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Immobile has turned down the €15m per season offer, wanting to close out his career with Lazio.
The 33-year-old does have some concerns regarding his centrality to Maurizio Sarri’s project following his injury-blighted campaign, so he’s reportedly hoping to receive some reassurances during the pre-season training camp in Auronzo di Cadore.
Last season, Immobile scored 14 goals and provided seven assists in 38 appearances across all competitions, missing a number of matches due to minor injuries.
