Lazio have identified New York City striker Valentin Castellanos as one of their top targets to bolster the attack this summer.
The Biancocelesti are clearly in the market for a new centre forward this summer and have set their sights on a number of possible options.
The main targets for now are FC Metz’s Georges Mikautadze and FC Basel’s Zeki Amdouni, with Lazio seemingly giving up on Santos striker Marcos Leonardo after talks stalled.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, the third option that Lazio are seriously considering is Castellanos, who has just returned to New York City after a year on loan with Spanish side Girona.
The 24-year-old Argentinian striker is contracted to the MLS side until December 2025 and would cost around €12 million, the same price as the club’s other two targets.
Last season, Castellanos scored 14 goals and provided one assist in 37 total appearances for Girona, proving his abilities in a European league.
