Lazio have released an official statement that finally confirms the sale of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Al-Hilal.
The 28-year-old’s arrival was announced by the Saudi Pro League side on July 12 but things were quiet in Rome, with some suggesting – or possibly hoping – that something could’ve gone wrong in the deal.
Milinkovic-Savic spent eight years with Lazio from 2015 to 2023 and was a fan favourite in the Italian capital, standing out for his technical abilities, tireless work rate and ability to produce moments of magic.
As confirmed in a statement, Lazio have sold Milinkovic-Savic to Al-Hilal in a definitive transfer with a fixed €40 million fee, payable in two instalments.
The 28-year-old Serbian star has signed a three-year contract with the Saudi side, reported to be worth around €60 million total.
During his eight years in the Italian capital, Milinkovic-Savic made 341 appearances across all competitions for Lazio, scoring 69 goals and providing 59 assists. He helped the club win a Coppa Italia and two Supercoppa Italiana titles.
