Lazio have officially announced the arrival of striker Valentin ‘Taty’ Castellanos, who has joined from New York City FC.
The Biancocelesti have been quiet in the early stages of the summer transfer window, not picking up any new players despite the sale of star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Al-Hilal for €42 million.
One of Lazio’s key targets for this summer was a new centre forward, needing an alternative to talismanic striker Ciro Immobile. The role has been vacant following the relatively recent departures of Felipe Caicedo and Vedat Muriqi.
As announced in a statement, Lazio have officially signed Castellanos from New York City in a definitive transfer, reportedly worth around €15 million plus €4 million in add-ons, with a 10% future resale clause.
The 24-year-old Argentinian striker has signed a five-year contract with the club, understood to be worth around €2 million net per season including add-ons.
Last season, Castellanos scored 14 goals in 37 appearances whilst on loan with Girona, netting a poker against Real Madrid.
