Luis Alberto Signs New Lazio Contract After Spark of Tension

Luis Alberto has put pen to paper on his new Lazio contract following a brief moment of tension between player and club.

The 30-year-old Spanish midfielder was seemingly unhappy after Pedro’s new contract was officially announced, frustrated that his own deal hadn’t been completed despite the fact that an agreement had been reached over a month ago.

Lazio already lost star midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this summer and Maurizio Sarri made it clear that he does not want to lose Luis Alberto as well.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Luis Alberto was so frustrated with the situation that he threatened to leave Lazio’s training retreat in Auronzo di Cadore yesterday, which is why he missed the morning training session.

Sarri intervened to resolve the situation and called president Claudio Lotito to get everything back on track. This was the right step, and the 30-year-old Spaniard was finally able to sign his new four-year deal, which’ll see him earn around €4 million net per season.
