Free agent Danilo D’Ambrosio, who was recently linked with a move to Lazio, is set to carry out his medicals with Monza this week.
The 34-year-old Italian centre back ended a nine-year spell with Inter last month, leaving on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract. The Biancocelesti were one of a handful of clubs linked with him, alongside Genoa and the Biancorossi.
Lazio have been quiet in the summer transfer window, only picking up Valentin castellanos from New York City, and the situation has sparked tension between Maurizio Sarri and Claudio Lotito.
As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, D’Ambrosio will undergo his medicals with Monza on Wednesday before putting pen to paper on a one-year contract with an option for a second, tied to their survival in Serie A.
The Biancocelesti are expected to pick up a few more reinforcements before the end of the summer, with Sarri wanting a new midfielder or two, a winger and a left back.
