Luis Alberto Still in Conflict With Lazio Over New Contract

Tension has continued to brew between Luis Alberto and Lazio regarding his new contract, and the Spaniard will not travel to England.

The 30-year-old has been keen to sign a new long-term contract with the Biancocelesti, which’ll come with a significant raise, and the terms of this were agreed weeks ago. Despite that, pen hasn’t been put to paper yet.

Luis Alberto expressed his frustration over this on social media last week and multiple reports suggested that everything had been resolved, but that is clearly not the case still.

As detailed by Alfredo Pedulla, Luis Alberto asked for a personal bonus of €100,000 to accompany his new contract, which is worth €4m net per season plus add-ons. The club were deeply unhappy with this request and have not agreed to pay.

The 30-year-old missed the double training session in Formello on Tuesday and will not join the squad for their trip to England, where they’ll face Aston Villa in a pre-season friendly.

  1. Doesn’t matter that an extension wasn’t signed yet… He still has a valid contract with the club till 2025 and he has to honour it! Wth is with these footballers?? The same with Lukaku… You have a valid contract with us and you will obey the coach and manager. End of discussion.
