Lazio are quietly working to swoop in for Chelsea talent Cesare Casadei, hoping to beat Leicester City to his signature.
The 20-year-old Italian midfielder turned heads when he left Inter for the Blues last summer, transferring in a deal worth €15 million despite the fact that he hadn’t even made a first team appearance in the Lombardy capital.
Casadei impressed during his six months on loan at Reading and shined at the Under-20 World Cup with Italy, scoring seven goals in seven games as the team went on to finish as runners-up.
As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio are aware that Leicester have already agreed personal terms with Casadei but they’re interested in swooping in to compete for his signature.
The 20-year-old hasn’t finalised his move to the Foxes yet and the Biancocelesti are hoping that the idea of the Champions League and topflight football could prove convincing enough to return to Italy on loan.
Casadei is contracted to Chelsea until June 2028 and it’s clear that they have no interest in signing off on a definitive transfer, believing in his long-term potential.
