Empoli are only a step away from finalising the arrival of Lazio forward Matteo Cancellieri after last week’s agreement.
The Tuscan side agreed to the terms of a deal with the Biancocelesti last week and have been working on completing the final details before welcoming the 21-year-old, who struggled for consistent playing time under Maurizio Sarri last season.
Arriving from Hellas Verona in a deal worth around €8 million, Cancellieri only saw 602 minutes of action across 30 total appearances, mostly coming on in the dying minutes of matches, leaving him with little opportunities.
As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, Empoli have agreed to sign Cancellieri from Lazio on a €1 million loan deal with a €12 million buy option attached. He is expected to undergo his medicals in Tuscany in the coming days before putting pen to paper on his contract.
The Italian forward was an emerging talented with Verona and he’ll be hoping for regular playing time to continue his development.
