Tottenham Veteran Lloris Turns Down Lazio Offer

Hugo Lloris has reportedly rejected a move to Lazio after learning that he wouldn’t be the starting goalkeeper in Rome.

The Biancocelesti have been in contact with the Tottenham veteran for over a week now, keen to bring in the 2018 World Cup winner on a free transfer once he finalises his exit from North London.

Lazio had prepared a two-year contract for Lloris, reportedly worth around €2-3 million net per season, but had no intention of using him to replace Ivan Provedel as the number one.

As reported by L’Equipe (via Di Marzio), Lloris has no intention of playing second-string so rejected the move to Lazio, wanting to remain a starting goalkeeper in the twilight of his career.

The Biancocelesti have now switched focus to other targets, including Union Berlin’s Frederik Ronnow. Other ideas, like free agent Samir Handanovic and Sassuolo’s Andrea Consigli, are lower on the list of options.

The hope is to bring in a new goalkeeper before the end of the month, giving some cover to Provedel following Luis Maximiano’s sale to Almeria.
