Lazio Pick Salernitana’s Sepe to Be Backup Goalkeeper

Lazio have reportedly decided to move forward for Luigi Sepe and are now working to finalise a deal for the Salernitana goalkeeper.

The Biancocelesti are still on the hunt for a new shot stopper following Luis Maximiano’s sale to Almeria and have considered a long list of options, including Tottenham veteran Hugo Lloris.

Sepe has lost his starting spot in Campania following the arrival of Mexican World Cup mainstay Guillermo Ochoa, making him a spare part in the Salernitana setup.

As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Lazio have decided to pick up Sepe to be their new backup goalkeeper and are now working on finalising the 32-year-old’s arrival.

Salernitana are open to letting the Italian leave on a free transfer and a three-year deal worth around €1 million net per season has been prepared in Rome.

Speaking to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Sepe was asked about the possible move to Lazio and he kept things vague.

At the moment I don’t know anything, I told my agent not to give me news in these days. We’ll hear again on Monday. To date many half-lies have been told and many half-truths.
