Lloris Says No After Lazio Reopen Talks

Lazio decided to reopen talks with Hugo Lloris but the Frenchman decided not to accept a move to Rome.

The Biancocelesti identified the 36-year-old Tottenham veteran as a strong option to partner Ivan Provedel in the Italian capital and contacted his entourage earlier this month to start discussing a deal.

Maurizio Sarri had some doubts about Lloris, not wanting to put too much pressure on Provedel, and the player himself didn’t seem keen on the idea of being a second-choice option, pushing both parties to move away.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio still haven’t signed a new backup goalkeeper yet and decided to reopen talks with Lloris, contacting his entourage on Tuesday to resume negotiations.

After more consideration, the French veteran has decided not to make the move to Rome, instead looking around for other options.

Luis Maximiano has been sold to Almeria in a deal worth around €9 million total, leaving Sarri with just one first-team goalkeeper in the Italian capital. Current backup options are Marius Adamonis and Alessio Furlanetto.
