Official: Lazio Sign Sepe From Salernitana

Lazio have officially signed goalkeeper Luigi Sepe from Salernitana on a season-long loan deal.

The Biancocelesti sold backup shot stopper Luis Maximiano to Almeria earlier this month, prompting them to look around for the right replacement to complement Ivan Provedel in the Italian capital.

Lazio considered various options for the role, including then-Sampdoria goalkeeper Emil Audero and Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, but decided to move forward for a lower-cost option.

As announced today, Sepe has officially signed for Lazio on a year-long loan deal from Salernitana. It’s understood that there’s no buy option attached and the Campania side will pay a portion of his over €1 million net per season wages.

The 32-year-old Sepe made 18 appearances across all competitions for Salernitana last season before losing his starting spot to Mexican veteran Guillermo Ochoa.

The Italian goalkeeper has heaps of experience in Serie A, playing 173 topflight matches for various clubs like Parma, Empoli and Salernitana.
