Genoa Emerge to Compete With Lazio for Bonucci

Lazio are still debating a move for Leonardo Bonucci and their hesitance has allowed Genoa to enter the race.

The Biancocelesti have been in talks with the 36-year-old Italian centre back for a number of weeks now, interesting in adding the experienced defender to Maurizio Sarri’s backline ahead of their Champions League campaign.

Union Berlin are also interested in picking up Bonucci but the Juventus veteran has made it clear that he’d prefer to stay in Serie A.

Gianluca Di Marzio details how Genoa have opened talks with Bonucci as they look to beat Lazio to his signature, wanting to further strengthen Alberto Gilardino’s squad.

The Biancocelesti haven’t made a move yet as Sarri still hasn’t signed off on the deal, not fully convinced about the arrival of the 36-year-old.

Last season, Bonucci saw 1517 minutes of action across 26 total appearances for Juventus, missing a number of games through a muscle injury.
