Monza have officially announced the arrival of midfielder Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro, who has joined from Lazio.

The 30-year-old Ivorian midfielder has not been a part of Maurizio Sarri’s project in the Italian capital and spent last season on loan with Empoli, where he made 24 appearances.

Empoli decided not to bring back Akpa Akpro this summer and he carried out the pre-season with Lazio, although it was plainly apparent that he wouldn’t have a spot in the squad for the new season.

As officially announced, Monza have signed Akpa Akpro from Lazio on a loan deal with a €3.5 million buy option attached, giving him the chance to earn a definitive transfer in Lombardy.

The Biancorossi finished 11th in the Serie A table last season and have been active in the summer transfer window, trying to break into the top half of the table.

During his time with Lazio, Akpa Akpro scored one goal and provided one assist in 55 total appearances.
