Lazio have reportedly sent an official offer to Juventus veteran Leonardo Bonucci after Maurizio Sarri gave his green light to the move.

The 36-year-old Italian centre back is being pushed out of the club in Turin after being cut from Massimiliano Allegri’s project. The Old Lady are keen to lower their wage bill and the defender is one of the highest earners in the squad.

Sarri was unconvinced about the idea of adding Bonucci to the squad but Claudio Lotito pushed to convince the coach, highlighting how his experience and leadership could prove key in their Champions League campaign this season.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio have offered Bonucci a one-year contract which’ll be automatically extended for a second season should the club secure Champions League qualification.

Juventus, who will give the 36-year-old a severance package, will also help pay a portion of his wages, making the deal possible.
