Mattia Zaccagni was handed his second Italy cap under Luciano Spalletti in the Azzurri’s lacklustre draw with North Macedonia.
The 28-year-old winger has been one of the best players in the Biancocelesti squad since his arrival in the summer of 2021, being a core part of Maurizio Sarri’s squad in the Italian capital.
Last season, Zaccagni continued to shine for Lazio and played a key role in their second-place finish in Serie A, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists across 35 Serie A appearances.
Spalletti named Zaccagni in his Italy squad for the Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine, and the 28-year-old was finally able to return the national team after an 18-month absence.
The Lazio winger started the match and spent 82 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Wilfried Gnonto.
During his time on the pitch, Zaccagni completed 28 of his 32 passes, won eight duels and took 58 touches, showing positive signs for the Azzurri.
