Lazzari & Basic Disgruntled After Lazio Exclusion

Manuel Lazzari and Toma Basic have become disgruntled after being frozen out of Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio squad.

Both players were linked with various moves away in the summer transfer window but transfers didn’t materialise for either, leaving them in Sarri’s squad for the new season.

Lazzari and Basic have both failed to gain the trust of the Lazio coach and neither have featured much in the early stages of this campaign, creating a dejected atmosphere at Formello.

As highlighted by Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Lazzari was not impressed with Sarri’s decision to leave him on the bench against Monza, believing that he deserved a chance after the Champions League clash with Atletico Madrid.

He was reprimanded by the club on Sunday for his insufficient behaviour and has been promised long-term punishments should he fail to start acting appropriately.

Basic is also disgruntled, despite the fact that Sarri made it clear in the summer that if he stayed, he’d be the last choice option in the midfield.

  1. Lazzari deserves to play more as his attacking ability is much better than Marusic.
Too many times I watch Marusic and Hysaj returning the ball to the back after a run in the left or right flank…they don’t play attacking football.

  2. Lazzari is used at the wrong place… am sad sari can’t see the potential in lazzari.. he should use him as a right winger not a right back. If we lose him would be another dumb decision by lazio
