Veteran winger Pedro has hardly made a splash with Lazio this season, suffering from both market distractions and injury concerns.
The 36-year-old Spaniard signed a new contract with the Biancocelesti in the summer, penning a one-year deal with an option for a second. He has been a useful part of Maurizio Sarri’s squad since his arrival in the summer of 2021.
This season, however, Pedro has hardly featured for Lazio, seeing just 73 minutes of action across five appearances in Serie A and the Champions League.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), there are two reasons in particular why Pedro has mostly been sidelined at Lazio this term, starting with his ankle issues.
The problems have plagued him for a while now and he’s still not at his peak level of fitness yet, limiting his ability on the pitch.
The other issue is the market distractions; he has been in talks with Tenerife in recent weeks and could be tempted to leave for the club in the January transfer window.
