Lazio Return to Winning Ways With Victory Over Torino

Lazio finally managed to break their poor run with a much-needed 2-0 win at home to Torino.

Faith was starting to wane in the Biancocelesti after their disastrous start to the Serie A season, picking up just four points from their opening five games, their worst start in two decades.

The fans loudly jeered the Lazio players after the draw with Monza and it was clear that a strong response was expected in the clash with Torino, something that they duly delivered on a warm Roman night.

Maurizio Sarri rotated his Lazio squad for the clash against the Granata, deploying Nicolo Rovella, Manuel Lazzari and Matias Vecino to freshen things up. Stars like Ciro Immobile, Luis Alberto and Mattia Zaccagni all started as well.

Lazio struggled to take control of proceedings in the first half of the clash with Torino, allowing the Granata a few chances before the half-time break. Sarri’s side were clearly fired up, however, and this became apparent in the second half.

The Biancocelesti took a 1-0 lead in the 56th minute after some quick play from Lazzari allowed Vecino into a pocket of space in the penalty area, where he poked the opener into the Granata net.

Lazio were in the driving seat after going ahead and found their second of the night in the 75th minute thanks to a confident dribble from Zaccagni, who calmy placed the ball past Vanja Milinkovic-Savic.

Sarri’s side saw out their 2-0 lead and took home all three points after a difficult but positive match, generating a little momentum ahead of their clash with Milan on the weekend.
