Castellanos on Debut Lazio Goal, Sarri’s System & Immobile Relationship

Valentin Castellanos was overjoyed to get open his scoring account with Lazio and commented on his growth under coach Maurizio Sarri.

The 25-year-old Argentinian striker shined in his second start for the Biancocelesti, playing a leading role in their 3-2 victory over Atalanta with a goal and an assist for Matias Vecino’s winner.

Many fans have been asking to see more of Castellanos following Ciro Immobile’s slow start to the season, and his decisive performance could be the ticket for more regular minutes in the coming weeks.

Speaking to DAZN (via LazioNews24) after the match, Castellanos first discussed how it felt to score his first goal for Lazio.

I’m happy for my first goal at the Olimpico. I really wanted to play here and go and celebrate with my fans under the Curva.

He was asked what Sarri told the players ahead of the clash with Atalanta.

We prepared for the match knowing that we would attack the spaces. When you play man-to-man, it’s important to do well in space.

The 25-year-old touched on how it felt to work under Sarri.

He is very demanding, but he can help me improve in the future.

Castellanos commented on his relationship with captain Immobile.

He’s our captain, we’re waiting for him to come back. A nice, healthy competition between us.

Finally, Castellanos was asked how much Italian he could speak.

Little by little, I understand everything but I don’t speak it yet.

  1. We love you Taty same as Ciro two of our best and Ciro is a role model to follow. Hard working, honest, perseverance is key and humility.

I also likes the way he said it’s a healthy competition because that’s what Lazio need and we have it both in midfield and atack. Our defence is getting back in shape to being more reliable and I think the moment Pellegrini will get more playtime he will show there was a reason he was brought in.

C’mon Lazio, recover and train now to be more in sync for the 21st.
