Lotito: ‘Castellanos Eager to Establish Himself at Lazio’

Lazio president Claudio Lotito spoke highly about new signing Valentin Castellanos, satisfied with his early showings in Rome.

The 25-year-old Argentine joined the Biancocelesti from New York City FC in the summer in a deal worth around €20m, finally adding another striker to Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

Castellanos shined in his second start for Lazio, scoring his debut goal and providing the decisive assist in the 3-2 win over Atalanta. Fans are excited to see more of the 25-year-old in the coming weeks.

Making a comment to Corriere della Sera (via LazioNews24), Lotito weighed in on Castellanos first few months at Lazio.

He was eager to establish himself, he has settled in well and is not creating a negative relationship with Immobile, but a proactive one.

Club captain Ciro Immobile has struggled to impress in the early stages of this season and some fans believe Castellanos should start taking on a more leading role in Sarri’s squad.

Last season whilst on loan with Girona, Castellanos scored 13 goals in 35 La Liga games, including four in one game against Real Madrid.
