Sarri Suspended & Fined After Red Card in Lazio Win Over Atalanta

Maurizio Sarri will not be in the dugout for Lazio’s upcoming clash with Sassuolo after his recent sending off, the Serie A sporting judge has confirmed.

The 64-year-old Italian coach was shown a red card in the 85th minute of the Biancocelesti’s thrilling 3-2 win over Atalanta on Sunday, something he was confused about.

When speaking to the media after Lazio’s win, Sarri questioned why he was shown a red card, claiming that he simply challenge a call by referee Daniele Orsato without using any foul language.

As confirmed today (via LazioNews24), Sarri has given a one-match ban and a €10,000 fine by the Serie A sporting judge for allegedly ‘addressing an insulting expression’ to Orsato in the 85th minute of Lazio’s win over Atalanta.

As such, assistant coach Giovanni Martusciello will be leading the Biancocelesti in their first match after the international break against Sassuolo, another key game for the club are they work to climb up the Serie A table.
