Lazio May Rest Immobile for Sassuolo Clash

Ciro Immobile may have avoided a muscle injury but Lazio are not willing to take any risks and may rest him for the next game against Sassuolo.

The 33-year-old Italian striker suffered a flexor issue during the Biancocelesti’s Champions League win over Celtic, forcing him to miss out on the thrilling 3-2 victory over Atalanta a few days later.

Immobile was not called up by Italy for their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and England, and tests later confirmed that he hadn’t suffered a muscle injury, instead picking up a minor strain due to fatigue.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio are closely managing Immobile’s condition and are considering leaving him on the bench for their first game after the international break against Sassuolo.

The 33-year-old will carry out individual training exercises for the rest of this week and the club aren’t willing to risk rushing him back in time to face the Neroverdi on 21st October.
