Lazio are cautiously optimistic that injured goalkeeper Ivan Provedel will be fit to face Sassuolo after the international break.
The 29-year-old Italian shot stopper was initially called up by Luciano Spalletti for Italy’s two Euro 2024 qualifiers against Malta and England, but was forced to turn down the summon due to an injury.
Provedel has played every available minute for Lazio this season, continuing to shine across his 10 appearances. He scored a dramatic late goal to secure a point in the Champions League opener with Atletico Madrid.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Provedel is suffering from a hematoma in his pelvis, which he picked up in the Champions League win over Celtic.
The hematoma still hasn’t been reabsorbed yet, but Lazio are hoping that their number one will be fit for the clash with Sassuolo on 21st October. Should he be sidelined, backup option Luigi Sepe would start.
