Pedro: ‘Lazio Must Start With a Different Mentality’

Lazio winger Pedro was bitterly disappointed after the Champions League loss to Feyenoord, underlining what needs to be changed to avoid similar results.

The Biancocelesti were not up to scratch in Rotterdam as the home side cruised to a comfortable 3-1 win, looking in control throughout the match. The result has dropped Lazio down to third in Group E, making their return clash with Feyenoord even more key.

Lazio need to bounce back fast as their next outing in Serie A is against an in-form Fiorentina, a team who are also dreaming of a top four finish this season. The next Champions League match is scheduled for November 7, again against Feyenoord.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia (via TMW) after the match, Pedro first reacted to Lazio’s 3-1 loss to Feyenoord.

We didn’t start the match well. We gave away the first half and you can’t do that in the Champions League, you can’t give away a minute. We have to change this mentality at the start of games, so it’s difficult to get the result we want.

I’m angry, we’re focusing on the league now and then we have to prepare better for the other Champions League matches.

He felt that Feyenoord would be one of the teams fighting for a spot in the knock-out stages in Group E.

Yes, we knew that they are very strong. A difficult team to beat with players who catch you off guard, like everyone in the Champions League.

We have to approach the match with a different mentality, otherwise it will be difficult to obtain a positive result.

Finally, Pedro discussed what the team will work on to try and turn things around.

We’re not playing badly, we have to continue like this. In the Champions League the speed is different and it’s difficult.

We have to approach this type of match better.
