Maurizio Sarri is reportedly starting to think about leaving Lazio in the summer and Fiorentina’s Vincenzo Italiano may be targeted as his replacement.
Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) details how the 64-year-old Italian coach had lunch with the Biancocelesti squad on Thursday and asked them to show desire and character in their upcoming clash with the Viola, wanting a strong response after the Champions League loss to Feyenoord.
Many around Formello are aware that Sarri is unsure about moving forward with Lazio beyond this season, frustrated with the mental blackouts and the transfer market decisions. No decision has been made yet, but the Italian coach is seriously considering his future at the club.
Should Sarri ultimately decide to leave Lazio, the club may look to Fiorentina’s Italiano, a coach they also considered before Sarri’s arrival in the summer of 2021.
Interestingly, the Lazio coach could then move to Fiorentina to replace Italiano, allowing him to move closer to his hometown of Figline in Tuscany.
