Valentin Castellanos has been given a chance with Argentina after receiving a call-up to the provisional squad.
The 25-year-old striker has impressed when given the chance in Rome since making the €20 million move from New York City FC in the summer.
Castellanos has already scored once and provided three assists in 427 minutes of action across 11 games for Lazio, proving himself to be an interesting alternative to club captain Ciro Immobile.
As highlighted by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Castellanos has been called up for Argentina’s provisional squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Brazil in November.
The 25-year-old has never appeared for the senior national side, so will be hoping to make the cut for the squad next month.
Castellanos will be hoping for more regular minutes across the season as he looks to prove himself to Maurizio Sarri and the Lazio fans. He has started four league games so far and only played the full 90 minutes once.
