Matteo Guendouzi has been one of the surprises of the season for Lazio and his strong start could see him return to the France national team.
The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Biancocelesti from Olympique Marseille in August on a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause worth around €12m, adding a passionate player to Maurizio Sarri’s squad.
Guendouzi has quickly carved out a spot for himself in the Lazio midfield this season, seeing 467 minutes of action across his first 11 appearances. He looks set to become a core part of the system in the Italian capital.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), France coach Didier Deschamps has also been impressed by Guendouzi’s impressive start to life with Lazio and has handed him a provisional call-up ahead of the November international break.
The 24-year-old has not featured for his national team since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar but could return to the fold following his showings in Serie A.
