Lazio striker Valentin Castellanos is reportedly completing the paperwork to allow him to represent the United States national team.
The 25-year-old Argentinian striker spent four years in the US from 2018 to 2022 with New York City FC, where he scored 59 goals and provided 24 assists across 134 matches. After impressing on loan with Girona last season, he joined Lazio in a deal worth around €20 million.
Despite his limited chances, Castellanos has already started to impress in the Italian capital this term, scoring one goal and providing three assists across 13 appearances in Serie A and the Champions League.
As reported by NYCFC Source, Castellanos is currently working on filling out the paperwork to allow him to become eligible for the USMNT, wanting to show his abilities on the international stage.
The 25-year-old Lazio striker has never made an appearance for the Argentina senior squad, last appearing for the Under-23 side at the start of 2020.
