Lazio Risk Losing Zaccagni for Derby della Capitale

Mattia Zaccagni is at risk of missing the upcoming Derby della Capitale after being forced off in Lazio’s Champions League win over Feyenoord.

The 28-year-old Italian winger, who is one of the most important players in Maurizio Sarri’s squad, came off in the 63rd minute of the clash with the Eredivisie side on Tuesday, suffering a blow to his right knee.

Zaccagni was an instrumental figure in Lazio’s charge to second place last season but has struggled to maintain that form this term, scoring just one goal and providing one assist across 15 total appearances.

As announced by the club, Zaccagni underwent a round of medical tests on Wednesday, which confirmed that the Lazio winger had avoided any structural damage to his right knee, allowing Sarri to breath a sigh of relief.

The 28-year-old has already started the recovery process and is now working to be fit in time for the coming Derby della Capitale against Roma on 12th November. He could be forced to start the match on the bench, depending on his progress in the coming days.
