Immobile Left Out of Italy Squad for Key Euro 2024 Qualifiers

Lazio striker Ciro Immobile was not called up by Luciano Spalletti for Italy’s vital Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and Ukraine.

The Azzurri currently sit third in Group C with 10 points, three behind Ukraine – who have played one extra match – and six behind England, pilling the pressure on Spalletti and his squad for the November international break.

Immobile was named Italy captain by Spalletti in the September international break, where he scored against North Macedonia, and was absent for the games with Malta and England last month due to a hamstring muscle injury.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Spalletti decided to call Immobile to explain why he didn’t call him up for Italy’s coming games with North Macedonia and Ukraine.

The Azzurri boss noted how the Lazio captain hasn’t been in the best of form in recent weeks and currently believes Moise Kean, Gianluca Scamacca and Giacomo Raspadori are better options.

The door is still open for Immobile, who could earn a spot for himself in the Italy squad for the European Championship next summer, assuming they qualify.
