Ivan Provedel is one of the lowest paid players in the Lazio squad but will soon be rewarded with a new deal.
The 29-year-old Italian goalkeeper cost just €2 million when he arrived from Spezia in August of last year, expected to be the backup shot stopper in Rome. He shined in his debut season, keeping an incredible 21 clean sheets across 38 Serie A matches, instantly proving his abilities.
Provedel, who has continued to be key for Lazio this season, was originally signed to be the backup option in Rome, so his low €1.3 million net per season salary is reflective of this. Things have obviously changed and now Maurizio Sarri never wants to do without the reliable goalkeeper.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Lazio president Claudio Lotito recently met with Provedel’s agent and assured him that a new contract would be drawn up for Provedel in the coming months, giving him a raise that reflects his importance to the club.
This season, Provedel has kept five clean sheets and conceded 18 goals across 16 games in Serie A and the Champions League.
