Thieves broke into the home of Lazio star Mattia Zaccagni last night and stole around €70,000 in valuables.
A report from La Repubblica details how the 28-year-old winger left his apartment on Via della Camilluccia in the Ponte Milvio area of Rome early on Tuesday evening to pick up his wife Chiara Nastri and their child.
When Zaccagni returned to the apartment at around 8pm local time, he discovered the ongoing break-in. The thieves promptly fled and the police were immediately called.
Around €70,000 of valuables, including jewellery and designer handbags, were stolen by the criminals, who also took the Lazio winger’s wallet.
The police investigation is ongoing, and they’ve already highlighted a window on the first floor that was likely forced open to allow entry.
A number of Serie A players have suffered burglaries over the last year, including Roma’s Chris Smalling, Napoli’s Piotr Zielinski and Juventus’ Moise Kean, showing the continued problem for footballers in the topflight.
