Ecuadorian striker Felipe Caicedo reiterated his love for Lazio and underlined his desire to return to European football.
The 35-year-old is currently a free agent after leaving Saudi Arabian side Abha Club in the summer, drawing a close to a one-year spell in the Middle East. Prior to the move, he spent time with Genoa and Inter.
Caicedo became a fan favourite across his four-year spell with Lazio, being known for his vital late goals, determined mindset and consistent professionalism. During his time at the club, he scored 33 goals and provided 15 assists across 139 games, being used as a backup to Ciro Immobile.
Speaking exclusively to EuroFoot, Caicedo first discussed his requirements for his next club.
I am willing to go anywhere, but not at any price. It needs a good project that is interesting, otherwise I think it will not work.
He was asked about his dream move.
To be able to go back to Europe, and if it is Italy, much better there.
Finally, Caicedo discussed which teams he still follows, underlining his love for Lazio.
My favourite team is Lazio, I was comfortable there, and in Europe it is the team I follow most closely. I also follow Barcelona SC from Guayaquil, it is the team of my childhood… it’s the most important team in Ecuador.
Many fans have called for Lazio to bring back Caicedo as another backup option for Immobile, giving Maurizio Sarri more flexibility up front.
