Lazio can breathe a sigh of relief after winger Mattia Zaccagni avoided suffering a major injury in the loss to Salernitana.
The 28-year-old Italian was forced off the pitch in the 62nd minute of the 2-1 loss to the Granata on Saturday afternoon, looking pained after suffering an issue with his left hip. He was replaced by veteran winger Pedro.
Zaccagni has featured prominently for Lazio this season but has failed to impress in the final third, scoring just one goal and providing one assist across 1158 minutes of action across 16 total matches.
As announced by Lazio today, Zaccagni underwent a round of medical tests at the Paideia clinic in Rome today, where he was diagnosed with a sprain trauma to his left hip. Whilst this sounds concerning, he avoided any structural injuries and is not expected to be sidelined for long.
The 28-year-old has already begun his recovery programme and the club are hoping he’ll be fit to face Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday next week.
