Enzo Raiola, the agent of Lazio defender Alessio Romagnoli, reflected on his client’s move from Milan and the promise made after his arrival in the capital.
The Italian centre back left the Rossoneri on a free transfer in the summer of 2022 and joined the Biancocelesti, signing a five-year contract. His arrival was much anticipated by the fans, who appreciate the player’s lifelong support of the club.
Romagnoli has proven himself to be a key player at Lazio since his arrival and has featured regularly this season, seeing 1440 minutes of action across 16 matches in Serie A and the Champions League.
He, Donnarumma and Bonaventura were not understood by Milan, so to speak. Alessio was held back by groin pain, he won the Scudetto as captain, but the managers at the time were not very enthusiastic about the idea of continuing.
There was an offer, presented just for the sake of it. There was a lack of desire to continue, we didn’t perceive it.
He then discussed the nature of his client’s move to Lazio and the promises made by president Claudio Lotito.
He is very happy at Lazio, there are many situations to evaluate. The president went unbalanced. Romagnoli came from an important career situation, even economically. At Lazio he accepted Lotito’s conditions, the maximum he could grant, with a promise: to return and complete the journey.
They were promises linked to some steps that Lazio had to take. The Champions League, qualification for the Round of 16.
Lotito expressed ambitions linked to the growth of the club: remaining in the Champions League and the dream of the Scudetto. Two out of three have been fulfilled.
Finally, Raiola was asked if Romagnoli planned to see out the rest of his career with Lazio.
We have to meet again with the president, I’m sure he will keep his promises. In football we can’t make plans. But in Rome, everyone can see it, Romagnoli is shining again.
