A fight almost broke out between Lazio and Hellas Verona after the final whistle of their bitter 1-1 draw on Saturday.
The Biancocelesti took an early 1-0 lead thanks to a classy backheel flick from Mattia Zaccagni, but dropped points after Thomas Henry’s bundled equaliser in the 70th minute, leaving Maurizio Sarri and his squad furious.
It was another disappointing result for Lazio, who are starting to seriously fall behind in the race for a top four finish this season.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via LazioNews24), Verona coach Marco Baroni was furious with Luis Alberto and attempted to chase him onto the pitch after the full-time whistle, being held back by his own players.
The drama continued in the tunnel, but things eventually settled after the Lazio midfielder and the Verona coach had a face-to-face talk.
Tensions continued to rise after the Lazio squad returned to the locker room, when it became known that Baroni had accidentally hit a member of Sarri’s stuff during the fray.
Before leaving the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi, some Biancocelesti representatives met with FIGC inspectors and the police to discuss the events.
