Lazio Could Move for Napoli’s Simeone in Winter Window

Lazio may look to bolster their frontline in the January transfer window and have been linked with a move for Napoli’s Giovanni Simeone.

The Biancocelesti cannot count on club captain Ciro Immobile for the next three to four weeks, with the veteran striker out with a thigh injury suffered in the recent win over Empoli. This leaves Valentin Castellanos as the only number nine in Maurizio Sarri’s squad.

Castellanos has failed to show much of note in the first half of this season, forcing Sarri to consider other options including adapting Felipe Anderson as a false nine. Lazio are also open to opportunities in the coming January transfer window.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), rumours from Napoli suggest that Lazio could make a move for Simeone next month, with the Argentine striker failing to receive regular playing time with the defending champions.

The 28-year-old has only seen 398 minutes of action across 18 games this term, starting just twice in the league. He is an old favourite of Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito, who wanted to make a move during the Argentine’s time with Hellas Verona.
