Anwar El Ghazi is still on Lazio’s list of possible reinforcements but isn’t considered one of the top targets at this stage.
The 28-year-old Dutch winger has been a free agent for almost three months after Mainz decided to terminate his contract due to social media posts supporting Palestine in the ongoing conflict with Israel.
Lazio are on the hunt for a new winger in the January transfer window and have recently been linked with a long list of players, including Bryan Gil, Jonathan Ikone, Wilfried Gnonto, Rafa Silva, Albert Gudmundsson and El Ghazi.
As reported by La Lazio Siamo Noi, Lazio are still open to picking up El Ghazi on a free transfer but are currently focusing their efforts on other targets, still having some doubts about the Dutch winger’s match fitness following his time as a free agent.
The Biancocelesti are also leaning towards picking up a younger talent for Maurizio Sarri’s squad, so are unsure about offering a contract to a player who’ll turn 29 in May.
