Lazio still haven’t managed to find common ground in contract talks with Mattia Zaccagni, creating anxiety ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 28-year-old Italian winger has just 18 months left on his contract in the Italian capital and has been hoping to sign a new deal with the club after his impressive spell under Maurizio Sarri, scoring 19 goals and providing 18 assists across 105 games.
Zaccagni, who is still on the initial contract signed upon his arrival from Hellas Verona back in the summer of 2021, attracted some attention in the January transfer window, but Lazio made it clear that they weren’t interested in losing their star winger.
As reported by Il Messaggero (via LazioNews24), Zaccagni wants to sign a new contract with Lazio until June 2027, asking for a salary of over €3 million net per season including add-ons.
For now, Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito is not willing to offer anything over the €3 million net total mark, drawing a clear line in the sand. As such, things have hit a complete stalemate and negotiations are not progressing.
Last month, Fiorentina had a €25m offer for Zaccagni rejected by Lazio, but things could be different in the summer if he doesn’t pen a new deal in the coming months.
