Cagliari vs Lazio: Recent History

Cagliari have struggled to find a rhythm since returning to the Italian topflight last summer, picking up just four wins across their first 23 games of the season. Things have been tough in recent weeks, picking up three consecutive defeats to Frosinone, Torino and Roma.

Claudio Ranieri’s side have picked up a few unexpected wins over the course of the season, beating Bologna, Sassuolo and Genoa, and do still have a strong chance of escaping the relegation zone in the coming months.

Lazio’s brief run of form was brought to an end by their Supercoppa Italiana defeat to Inter last month. Since then, the team drew Napoli 0-0 and lost to Atalanta 3-1, results that leave them trailing the pack in the race for a top four finish.

When the Biancocelesti met Cagliari in the first half of the season, they secured a 1-0 win after an eighth minute goal from veteran winger Pedro.

Team News & Expected Starting Lineups

Cagliari have a long list of injuries heading into the match, unable to rely on Marko Rog, Ibrahim Sulemana, Marco Mancosu, Gaetano Oristanio and Eldor Shomurodov.

Lazio only have two absences heading into the match, having to do without the injured Mattia Zaccagni and suspended Nicolo Rovella.

Cagliari (3-4-2-1): Scuffet; Dossena, Mina, Obert; Nandez, Prati, Makoumbou, Augello; Luvumbo, Viola; Lapadula.

Lazio (4-3-3): Provedel; Marusic, Casale, Romagnoli, Hysaj; Guendouzi, Cataldi, Vecino; Pedro, Immobile, Felipe Anderson.
