Conceicao After Porto Beat Arsenal: ‘Let Me Say Forza Lazio!’

Porto coach Sergio Conceicao dedicated a brief message to his former club Lazio after his side’s Champions League win over Arsenal.

The Portuguese outfit unexpectedly grinded out a possibly decisive 1-0 win over the Gunners in the first leg of their Champions League Round of 16 clash, setting up a difficult task for Mikel Arteta’s squad in their second leg next month.

Conceicao spent three total years attached to Lazio as a player and was heavily linked with a move to the club when Simone Inzaghi left for Inter in the summer of 2021. During his time in Rome, he won a Scudetto, two Coppa Italia and two UEFA titles.

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), Conceicao discussed Porto’s win over Arsenal with hosts Fabio Capello, Alessandro Costacurta and Paolo Di Canio before sending a brief message to Lazio.

Let me say something. Thank you to everyone, Italy is a country that I adore, but I’m not saying this to offer myself to Italian football, it’s not about that. Let me just say forza Lazio!

Porto will travel to North London to face Arsenal in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie on 12th March.
